SCHOOL OF SEDUCTION

A film by Alina Rudnitskaya
Documentary  |  95 min |  DEN, AUT, NOR, RUS  |  2019
A co-production with Danish Documentary

SYNOPSIS

As they say in Russia: You cannot sit on two chairs at the same time. But that’s precisely what modern Russian women are trying to do. One chair is the patriarchal community, the second is female empowerment. Russian women want men to spend their money on them, but at the same time, they don’t want to lose their independence. This is the dilemma at the heart of the film. Our three heroines take matters into hand and start at a course called The School of Seduction, where they learn how to live, think and behave in order to be loved. But is this really what they want and dream about?

QUOTES

»Rudnitskaya, a Russian woman herself, follows her protagonists for seven years, emerging with some remarkable footage of their development and struggles. The director uses aerial shots of the city
to show off some its more brutal, ugly architecture, enhancing the
crushing feeling of oppression.« SWITCH.

»Alina Rudnitskaya starts her film in her native city saying that
this is about man and woman in a Russia that is proud of herself
or should I say himself. And she does so with her own signature
of tragedy and comedy.«
 – FILMKOMMENTAREN.DK

»The film has the potential to challenge people’s stances and get them to consider an unconditional basic income!« – KLAUS KOFLER, FUTUROLOGIST

»A film that today has already documented the world of tomorrow.« – MICHAEL BOHMEYER, GRUNDEINKOMMEN.DE
